Cushion Range
I have created a range of cushion types, each one individual and handmade to bespoke sizes, each with its own characteristics and suitability for different areas of the home. I am always happy to advise on the type of cushion most suitable for a client’s specification.
French Mattress Cushion
The French Mattress Cushion is the pièce de resistance of the range and this elegant cushion originated in France where mattresses were traditionally made this way. After the outer fabric layer is made the detailed hand stitching gives the cushion a beautiful sewn edge and knotted tufting.
The cushion inner is made of medium density high grade foam with a hand applied wadding layer.
The French Mattress can be further elevated with the addition of a piped edge but the Classic Mattress is the most popular option for a sublime casual look. Please note that these cushions do not have a removable cover so marks can only be dabbed clean. Suitable depth size is from 6cms – 10cms.
Piped Edge Cushion
The robust structural look of this cushion makes it suitable for high usage areas, particularly family seating where the ability to remove and wash is a priority.
Each edge is piped with bias cut fabric and the cushion has a concealed zipped channel along the back edge.
The cushion inner is made of medium density high grade foam with a hand applied wadding layer.
Simple Bench Cushion
This cushion has this name for one obvious reason, the pure simplicity of it. The plain edged box cushion is made to a shallower depth of approximately 6cms and and is widely chosen as an economical option due to the efficient use of fabric. It has a firm density foam and wadding inner and a concealed zipped channel along the back edge. It works particularly well in a narrow ticking stripe.
Tufted seat pad
This multi handtufted seat pad is suitable for kitchen chairs, stools and garden seating and offers a relaxed, informal look, particularly when made in a natural linen. It has a polyester wadding inner with hand knotted tufts and can have additional ties for seats. They can be made to any size and are also suitable for benches and window seats, but as they do not have a foam inner they do not offer such a firm option as do the other styles.
Bolsters and Cushions
Last but not least, the range would not be complete without the ubiquitous piped edge cushions and piped bolsters which are offered made to measure. Either can be made to co-ordinate with any of the seat cushion range and the addition of these really does elevate the products beautifully.
